Giddy-up!

Howdy everyone!

To start off this week, I'll show you a few pictures of a lovely gift Henry got from his Granny and Granddad when he was born:

Just a tease:

There it is! (most of it anyway):

Henry is still a little small to really get full enjoyment out of this beautiful rocking horse.  Or so I thought...the following picture suggests otherwise:

What is up with that smile little man?  Not the greatest picture of the hat, but hey, it's a great picture of his smile/teeth/tongue, so what can you do?

What's this?  Cowboy boots?:

Looking at daddy (better picture of his hat):

Little smiles (from a big man)!  He looks so big on the rocking horse:

Just chillin:

Initially I wanted to do this photoshoot on a real horse, but we couldn't get organized in time.  I think the rocking horse turned out to be a nice compromise.  I still can't believe how big he looks in these pictures!  For anyone not up to speed, Henry just turned 9 months last week.  He's growing up fast!

Hope you all had a great weekend, see you next week pard'ners!

Extra! Extra!

Well folks, it looks like the weather is slowly turning into spring like conditions!  Although we've had a few icy cold days we've had enough warm days that we are facing the inevitable hat dilemma where it's too warm for hats, but I still have hats a plenty to create.

In light of the warmer forecast for the next few days, I made Henry a hat that doesn't quite cover his ears, so he can wear it without having a meltdown because it's too hot.  Hopefully.

In other exciting news, our good friends welcomed their sweet daughter S to the world this week!   Join me in congratulating J and R on their beautiful little girl!  Henry is looking forward to a lifetime of friendship :)  S's dad, J, and I have known each other since we were only 4 years old, it's kind of incredible that our children might have an even longer friendship than we have maintained. The world is a crazy place!

Here's the little man in the test shot.  Nice chin rolls buddy!

He's only doing this until his acting career takes off...

Thinking about something

Dad is so silly!

Next week is St. Patrick's day, so look out for a St. Patty's Day theme!

Will you be my Valentine?

I know there are a lot of Valentine's Day haters out there.  But I don't hate Valentine's Day.  Sure, it's commercial and expensive, but it's also nice to have a day set aside just for lots of love.  I thought today I would first share a few pictures from my own love story:

This is a super oldie from my Aunt Judy's wedding.  Check out that long blonde hair!

This is probably one of my favourite pictures of Trevor and I.  It's from our engagement photoshoot, I don't know what T said, but I was clearly not impressed (but still amused):

Here we are at our wedding which was the most incredible day ever:

Another wedding pic, laughing like a maniac

And now, our little family, finally home together!

You may notice that I have added a link to my etsy shop at the top of the sidebar.  Not too much to see yet, but please go take a look!  More to come of course, but I thought I may as well start somewhere.

Henry's hat this week is once again knit.  I was going for more of a skull and heart pattern, but I had some challenges carrying 3 colours, so I had to incorporate the red more which makes it look more like skeletons and hearts.  It seems to look ok though.  Here he is, posing with some chocolates:

He's such a cutie, how could you resist being his Valentine?  For the record, his sleeper says I love Mommy, looks like I'm the lucky girl this year :)

Love Valentine's Day or hate it, I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hat's off!

I've always enjoyed knitting and crocheting.  I learned how to when I was a little girl living in Austria where it was required curriculum in school.  Many of my peers from that time gave up the handcrafting, but somehow this was something that stuck with me my whole life.  Now, after many, many years of practice (approximately 20 to be exact), I find myself quite skilled (if I do say so myself) and as such, have decided to take on a little project for this next year.

My son Henry was born on September 17th of this year.  What better way to put my mad knitting skills to use than to make little wee hats for him (and sometimes his friends)?  I thought it might be fun to make him one new hat every week for the next year.  At the end of the year, I will donate all our hats to a charity or hospital of some sort (yet to be determined).  I'll feature each hat here on this blog so you can all enjoy the photo ops with me.  I'll also share the occasional pattern when it's mine to share and direct you all to where you can find your own patterns.

With no further ado, here is a little preview of some of Henry's hats to date:
These are both pictures of the same hat, which was his Halloween/Fall hat.
Around 2 months, all Henry's hair fell out on the top of his head, here I have resolved that problem for him.
Daddy and Henry with matching hats.
I will update again soon so we can get all caught up on the hat situation as it stands now, then we'll just dive right in!
