Monster Series 3

Happy Friday the 13th!  Just in case you are having a bad day, I'm updating today to improve things for you!  Actually, part of the reason for the early update is that I will have questionable internet service for about a week, so I thought I'd update now and not worry about it.

This week's hat is quite unseasonal.  I know it's Summer and about 100 degrees out, but I made an earflap hat.  I thought of it and it was just too cute to pass up.  Also, I needed a picture of Henry in a monster themed hat for another project and I wanted a more recent shot than the previous monster hats.

Crazy to think when I last took a pic of Henry with a monster he could barely sit up.  Now he's crawling everywhere and pulling himself up on just about everything he can reach!  So many changes!  But now that physical growth is slowing down, making winter-y hats in the summer isn't so questionable because it's possible they'll still fit in the fall.

Alright, that's probably enough back story for today.  Hat time!

Henry was not in the mood for a photo-shoot today, which is kind of unusual for him.  He's such a ham, he usually sees a camera and immediately does this:

However, after this gem (which was the second shot I took) I got winners like this:

It's cute and funny, but not exactly what I was hoping for.  Or this:

In case you are wondering, his face is still turned toward the camera here, he has pulled the earflap over his face. *facepalm*  I did manage to get this picture (it's a bit blurry though):

Normally Henry is all dad.  But in the above pic, I see some mom, I'll show you a picture of me making a similar face:

Can you see it?  We're even sitting in the same position.

I hope you all have a lovely day and weekend, Friday the 13th and Satanic weather aside...

Where's Wald---errr, Henry?

Happy Friday Everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying the heat we're having (if you are in southern Ontario anyway, maybe elsewhere too).  Since we've been pretty much housebound today enjoying the air conditioning, I had enough time to finish this week's hat a bit early as well as stage our photo shoot.

The idea for this week actually came from last week.  I thought the beanie made Henry look a little like Waldo (of Where's Waldo? fame).  I did a little research to see exactly what Waldo's hat really looks like, and here we are!  I also happened to have the perfect shirt to complete the costume.  I think I actually buy these red and white striped suits because I love the Labyrinth.  I'm not going to tell you how awesome it is.  In fact, I'm going to assume that since we're friends, you've seen it, so I won't even tell you what it's about or what it has to do with red and white striped baby suits.

I digress, back to the pics:

Did I forget to mention the pipe-cleaner glasses?:

It was hard today to get little man to smile/pay attention/take the toys out of his mouth

Chewing away (tooth eruption #5 is imminent):

Snarfing at me:

Almost a smile, and look, nothing in his mouth!:

What a funny little man, he makes me laugh all day long.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy (belated) Canada Day to all my fellow canadians (and honorary canadians)!

We owe this late update to our visit to the cottage this weekend.  The weather was amazing and we had a great time relaxing in the sun and on the newly screened porch (bug free is always a plus).

Henry had a special hat to mark the momentous occasion (Canada that is):

Mommy also appears in a few of these pics if you check out the reflection in the window

A different angle (smiley man):

Oh dad, you're so funny:

"Little Canadian"

He looks a bit like a lumberjack without his antlers:

Here we are just before dinner, Henry's got a new outfit because it's post swim:

Henry was such a good boy all weekend, he even figured out proper crawling as opposed to just dragging himself around everywhere!  We're looking forward to our next cottage trip and many more Canada Days to come!

Giddy-up!

Howdy everyone!

To start off this week, I'll show you a few pictures of a lovely gift Henry got from his Granny and Granddad when he was born:

Just a tease:

There it is! (most of it anyway):

Henry is still a little small to really get full enjoyment out of this beautiful rocking horse.  Or so I thought...the following picture suggests otherwise:

What is up with that smile little man?  Not the greatest picture of the hat, but hey, it's a great picture of his smile/teeth/tongue, so what can you do?

What's this?  Cowboy boots?:

Looking at daddy (better picture of his hat):

Little smiles (from a big man)!  He looks so big on the rocking horse:

Just chillin:

Initially I wanted to do this photoshoot on a real horse, but we couldn't get organized in time.  I think the rocking horse turned out to be a nice compromise.  I still can't believe how big he looks in these pictures!  For anyone not up to speed, Henry just turned 9 months last week.  He's growing up fast!

Hope you all had a great weekend, see you next week pard'ners!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there, old and new!  Sorry for the late update this week, we've been at my parents' house spending some time with my dad.  Of course we managed to get a few pictures of Henry with his Dad in matching hats.  I know we did a Jays hat once already, but this particular one happens to be the authentic on field ball cap.  Henry still needs to grow into his a little bit, but Trevor's is a perfect fit!  I've got to say, I much prefer the new Blue Jays logo.

Whoa, we match!

Handsome!  (Henry's not bad either):

Like Father, like Son:

I am a lucky lady!

The adventures of Georg

Does anyone else remember this?

I believe we used to watch it in German while living in Austria in the 90's, but I could be mistaken.  In any case, I found myself remembering this show, and that is how I came up with the hat this week.  But before we get into the hat, I have to give you a short (and related) backstory.  Sometime in the early 2000's, my family somehow came to be in possession of a lawn gnome.  He's small and simple and is carrying a pig in his arms.  We call him Georg (that's pronounced with a hard "G").  Sometimes, you go on a trip, and somehow Georg has ended up in your luggage.

This first picture is actually from Georg's second trip to Europe, here, he is enjoying some delicious Austrian cuisine:

And here he is visiting the Eiffel Tower:
Now, I must tell you, Georg was travelling long before the Travelocity gnome.  We're pretty sure they got their idea from us (though we're not sure how, when we find out who spilled the beans *shakes fist*).

This week, I was thinking about David the Gnome from the tv show, then I remembered Georg the gnome, and an amazing photoshoot was born.  The pictures look awesome this week thanks in part to my mother's beautiful garden, the contrast of the red hat against the lush green plants, and of course, Henry.

Who's that in the bird bath?

Henry just loves sitting in the dirt, in fact he started to laugh as soon as we sat him down:

Oh, is it unusual that I am sitting in this lush green paradise?

Loves nature (as a good gnome should).

I hope you all are enjoying the warmer weather, keep your eyes open for gnomes in your own gardens!  Remember, they're a little mischievous, but generally harmless.

Hey Everyone! Come see how good I look!

As some of you may have heard, a sequel to Anchorman is in the works.  So when I was shopping online and saw the shirt featured in these pictures, I had a hat plan for the week.  It took a few tries to get right and the moustache was a challenge. I tried to crochet one, but it was too tickly for the little man, so we used some eyeliner instead.  I always find hats that look like hair hilarious, so I hope you enjoy:

He's such a little ham, as soon as he sees the camera he starts smiling, so I couldn't get a serious Anchorman shot.  Here's Henry, he's kind of a big deal:

He has many leather bound books and his apartment smells of rich mahogany (also, he looks a little like Bugs Bunny with those teeth):

Great Odin's Ravens that's a cute baby:

What a little goofball.

Stay classy San Diego.
