Dinosaur train!

Hey everyone,

It's been awhile.  If you haven't seen any pics of Henry elsewhere lately, you're going to be shocked at how much of a little boy he is now!  This hat I made because one of Henry's favourite shows (not that he watches many or has a choice really) is Dinosaur Train.  We watch Dinosaur train so often that the other day I was watching a show that referenced a pachycephalosaurus and I knew what it was (without having to look it up).  This hat is not a representation of a pachycephalosaurus though.  It's a sauropod for sure.  Now that you're all caught up on your dinosaur facts,  here is my (not so) little man, smiling as always:

And he actually let me take his picture:

Ok Ma, I take this off now, yes?

You wear it please!

Still my blue eyed baby:

You can only just see it in these pics, but his shirt is also rocking a dinosaur theme.  Coincidentally, I had already completed this hat when we saw this t-shirt at a store.  So naturally we had to buy it for the photo-op.

I'll try to be better about updating.  Until then!

Ka-Pow! Blam!

At long last, I have found some time to update everyone on Henry's Halloween.  Last halloween was the peter pan costume that kind of started all of this hat-making and blogging.  Since his costume was so cute last year, I figured you wouldn't let me get away with buying one for him this year, at least, not the whole costume.  This year, Henry went as - da nananananananana da nanananananana Batman!

Answering the bat signal:

Bat signal again?:

False alarm.  (Notice the batmobile in the background?  Thanks Aunty Katy and Brett)!

Now we'll take a short break from batman pictures.  Thumbs up for pumpkin carving (we're letting him start early so that he hopefully doesn't inherit his dad's bad luck with knives):

All finished!:

They turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.  The little Jack Skellington heads are candle holders that I got from a friend a long time ago:

Batman playing with his new fisherprice Kitchen:

Happy man!  (Thanks to GG for the smiling shot where he isn't trying to take off his hat):

That's all for this week.  Tune in next week, same bat time, same bat channel.

Henry, the Pumpkin King

Hello everyone!  Long time no see!  I have gone back to work and the first few weeks were an adjustment, so no updates.  But now that I'm getting back in the swing of things, I found I even had time for a new hat.

This weekend, we took Henry to the pumpkin patch (which we did not do last year since he was still so small).  Here is a picture:

A rare picture with mom in it!  There's a really beautiful article over at Huffington Post called "The Mom Stays in the Picture."  If you have a moment, I highly recommend you head over there and check it out.  Now, what you've all been waiting for:

It's Henry wearing a Jack Skellington hat, playing with Jack Skellington!  For those of you who may not know, I am a huge Tim Burton fan.  I particularly enjoy Nightmare Before Christmas (I know, it's not directed by Tim Burton, but his hands were all over it).

Here is a slightly better picture of the hat (Henry was a little uncooperative and more than a little cranky at the time of the photoshoot).

There we go, sour face, but nice hat:

Exhasted at the pumpkin patch with Dad:

Mini-me:

Checking out a potential:

In the end we got 2 pumpkins, but we decided next year, we'll come for the fun, but get the pumpkin elsewhere (I think daddy was tired of carrying baby/pumpkins by the end.

Keep your eyes peeled for a Halloween update!

Birthday Boy!

Happy Monday everyone!  Today I have an extra special post (and also potentially extra long), today is Henry's birthday!  It's a little hard to believe that he's one already.  He's turning into such a funny, sweet little man, he makes us laugh everyday.

To start, I'd like to show you what's become of all those hats.  I didn't count them, but I think there's around 50....

It was a little hard to get this shot without falling off the chair, hence the un-centred shot:

One last pic of what's become of the hats (at least temporarily):

We're going to move the whole hat-banner up to Henry's room as a kind of border, for now they're on display.

Now for some party pics:

I can't really take too much credit for the awesome-ness of all these things. All I really did was cut up the vegetables.  The rest is courtesy of my mother, two bakers, and my father's co-worker's wife.

Presents:

What a lucky little man!  A few more party shots, then we'll get to his hat:

Not too sure about the cake:

Mostly just shovelling it into his lap:

Hanging out on his leafs chair with cousin T:

Little men:

Cousin J:

Hat time at last!  He really did want to wear the hat this morning.  As GG said, he's one now, so he's got some attitude (but in the end he tolerated it):

Some new toys helped in the persuasion process:

Yum:

Finally I got it off!:

I hope you enjoyed the look at our festivities.  I'll keep making hats of course, but probably not weekly.  Keep looking for updates, I promise there will continue to be some!

Cheers!
